About the game
Approximately Up is an adventure, indie, and simulation game developed and published by Approximately Games. It launched on Steam on Aug 6, 2026 at $19.99 as a full release. The core loop is simple to describe and hard to master: build a fully modular spaceship from parts that barely hold together, fly it at terrifying speed, crash, then rebuild and try again.

Getting started
When you first launch Approximately Up, the most important step is to complete the tutorial. It unlocks the Tutorial Completed achievement and teaches you the basics of modular construction, mission objectives, and ship control. After that, focus on your first main task to earn the First Milestone achievement.
- Follow the early objectives to reach new planets and open up more of the map.
- Use Save Anytime before long flights, tricky landings, or cargo deliveries.
- Learn to use Time Rewind when your ship falls apart, but keep a clean save if you are chasing the No Rewinds! achievement.
- Bring the tutorial sheep back to Headquarters to start the animal transport chain and unlock Baaa-ck To Headquarters.
- Watch for the solar storm early in your journey to earn the Solar Storm achievement just by surviving the encounter.
Save Anytime is your best friend. Keep a separate save for clean runs if you are aiming for No Rewinds! or Golden Thruster, since those require completing objectives without using Time Rewind.
After the tutorial, the game opens up. Try transporting a sheep from Earth to the Moon alive for the Wool Age achievement, or push your ship toward 1,000,000 m/s for Need For Thrust. You can also seek out special events like black hole tunnels, the farthest known planet Tenebra, and encounters with dinosaurs. If your ship explodes, that is not a failure: it is just the Approximately Up way to learn.
