What is Approximately Up? It is an Adventure, Indie, and Simulation title from developer and publisher Approximately Games. You build a fully modular spaceship out of whatever bolts together long enough to fly, then explore planets, run missions, and face the dangers of space.

When does Approximately Up come out? The game launches on August 6, 2026 for $19.99. It is a complete full release, not an Early Access title and not a coming-soon preorder page.

Gameplay

How does ship building work? You do not fly a fixed ship. You mount oversized parts like giant thrusters, wire up annoying cables, and bolt together whatever survives liftoff. The simulation-style gameplay means your design choices decide whether you reach orbit or crash, rebuild, and try again.

What is Time Rewind? Some failures can be undone with Time Rewind. Several achievements reward ignoring it, including No Rewinds! for completing one objective and Golden Thruster for completing every objective without rewinding, which is the toughest challenge in the achievement set.

How many achievements are there? Approximately Up ships with 22 Steam achievements covering tutorial progress, exploration, speed, and a few very strange cargo deliveries.

Exploration also hides optional oddities:solar storms, a dinosaur encounter, a submarine-depth point at 1000m below sea level, and Tenebra, the farthest known planet in the game.

Does Approximately Up have co-op? Yes. The Steam categories include Multi-player,Co-op, and Online Co-op, so a full crew can build, crash, and argue over the same ship together. You can also switch to a solo run whenever you want a quieter expedition.
